Soco to shutter amid industry challenges
There’s a letter no chef wants to write and it's an announcement their restaurant will close.
That was the difficult task undertaken by Executive Chef and Partner Greg Richie of Soco Thornton Park on May 20. Richie told Orlando Business Journal he composed the note, now posted to Soco’s social media channels, after telling his staff the news — a more painful task than making the public announcement, he said.
"In some ways, telling them is even harder than closing. There are people here that have been here for 10 years," said Richie. "Our goal is to walk out of here at the end of the day on Sunday with our heads high, knowing that we served the final shift as great as the first one and everything in between. We’re committed to excellence to the last minute."
