Lender to take over prime property near Epic Universe
An 8.91-acre property at 7050 S. Kirkman Road near the new Epic Universe theme park — zoned for multifamily/hospitality/mixed use — is due to be possessed by lender Arena Limited SPV LLC. In a last-minute scramble, owner Orlando Views LLC tapped Robert Smith of Orlando-based Smith Equities to market the property.
Orlando Views filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in October 2023, and a modified amended plan of reorganization was in February approved by Judge Tiffany Geyer for the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, which sees Arena lending money to Orlando Views to demolish the buildings and handle asbestos removal.
"Then ownership will be transferred to Arena,” said Shuker, "unless it sells first."
