Sorekara's meteoric rise: Orlando restaurant earns 2 Michelin stars in first year

Only 33 U.S. restaurants hold the distinction of being awarded two Michelin stars, including just two in Florida.

One of them is L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon in South Florida and the other is Sorekara in Baldwin Park, an Orlando neighborhood that has existed only since 2004. Before that, the site was a Naval Training Center hosting Navy boot camps.

Sorekara opened last year, serving a seasonal chef-curated tasting menu for $275 per person. 

On April 17, Sorekara was awarded two Michelin stars, an honor announced that night at a ceremony at Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort.
