Orlando comedian Kam Patterson joins cast of ‘Saturday Night Live’

West Orlando comedian Kameron Patterson has been tapped by NBC to join the cast of Saturday Night Live, the long-running sketch comedy show. SNL is entering its 51st season this fall.

Twenty-six-year-old Patterson weighed the offer over the past week, according to his father Kenneth Patterson, ultimately deciding it’s the right move for his future. “They wanted him to start on Sept. 12, but he wants to push it to the 22nd,” he said. “We should know soon.”

Either way, Patterson will debut on the show’s Oct. 4 premiere, along with four other new cast members: Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane, Ben Marshall and Veronika Slowikowska.

Patterson got his start in on the stage of Night Shade Lounge, where Wilberto Miller then hosted his weekly comedy night All Jokes Aside. Patterson worked the Orlando open mic scene religiously until he moved to Austin in 2023, forging a path to national recognition when he became a regular that year on the “Kill Tony” podcast and started touring with comedian Tony Hinchcliffe.

This year, Patterson landed a role in the Kevin Hart film 72 Hours. The bachelor party-themed comedy follows a 40-year-old executive, played by Hart, who hopes to revive his struggling career by joining a group of 20-somethings on a wild three-day bender after he’s inadvertently added to their group text.
